Thyroid-Hypothyroidism

THYROID– a very common name nowadays. Almost every 2nd person is familiar with it. Or we can say, a trending name!!

The thyroid plays an important role in the proper functioning of the whole body. It creates and produces hormones that are used by other parts of the body. When your thyroid gland starts making too much or too few hormones, then you are caught by the THYROID disease. Let us discuss this in detail:

WHAT IS THYROID?

It is a butterfly-shaped gland that is located in front of the neck, just below your Adam’s apple. This gland produces hormones that allow your body to function well. If the hormones work properly, then you can’t feel it.

On the other hand, if the functioning of the gland affects the production of hormones, then your thyroid is not in proper condition. There are basically two types of this disease:

  1. a) Hyperthyroidism:When the gland produces fewer hormones then this condition happened.
  2. b) Hypothyroidism:When the gland produces too many hormones than the required number, then hypothyroidism occurs.

I am suffering from hypothyroidism and in this blog, I am sharing my personal experience of suffering and the journey of cure.

I came to know about this disease when I went for a full-body checkup during my early pregnancy days. At that time, I thought it is because of genetic factors as many other people think.

This statement is true up to a certain limit but the thyroid is more a lifestyle disease than a genetic disease.

How do We know about Thyroid?

A simple blood test of TSH(Thyroid Stimulating Hormone), T3, and T4 helps us to know the exact readings by which we can easily know we are suffering with which version of thyroid or it is normal.

From where does it come?

This is really a point to think about, we never heard about this during the ’80s or ’90s and now it is known to almost everyone. What is the reason?

One simple reason is the change in lifestyle- the main cause. Changes in lifestyle like:

  • no workout
  • late night movies
  • late night parties
  • sitting job
  • less physical work
  • no proper sleep
  • stress on every small thing etc.

We made these changes in our lifestyle at our convenience and our body is unable to accept the changes. Due to this, there is a hormonal imbalance, and diseases like Thyroid, PCOD, etc occur.

How Serious is this?

Let me share my personal experience here, at the beginning I did not have any symptoms but as I start taking my thyroid for granted, it starts showing adverse effects like;

  • hair fall
  • puffy face
  • difficulty in losing weight
  • pimples
  • tiredness
  • laziness etc.

Earlier, I also did not pay any attention to these symptoms and thought these were because of changes in weather, sometimes workload but when these symptoms were not curing even after so many medicines, changes in diet then I realized that all this is happening because of my thyroid.

At the same time, I decided that I will cure my thyroid by hook or by crook. Now, I can see some positive results as I changed my lifestyle in the last 1 month.

On the other hand, when you visit any allopathy doctor regarding the same concern, the doctor will give us medicine as per our TSH value and we have to take it empty stomach in the morning till the end of our life.

OMG! start our day with medicine. I did not get any relaxation even after taking medicine empty stomach for the last 4 years and then I decided to cure myself with diet and lifestyle changes.

What diet can help me?

I am listing down a few images in which there are everything from vegetables, fruits, grains, and nuts to everything related to our diet. I categorized the food items into two parts what to eat and what to avoid and I am totally avoiding the food which triggers my body’s functioning.

Hope you find this blog helpful and resolve all your queries regarding thyroid and its effects. All the information shared above is based on the study done and on personal experience.
