A Refrigerator, also known as the Fridge, is one of the most important appliances in our daily life. Now, people use it throughout the year no matter, whether it is summer or winter. If you are planning to buy a refrigerator, then this blog will help you.

Your Requirements:
First of all, you have to prepare a list of all those points which you want to be in your refrigerator, if you have 7-8 members in your family then definitely your requirement is large capacity. Similarly, for nuclear families, refrigerator holding small capacity goes well.
Apart from capacity, if you like to store multiple things like spices, flour, and other dry ingredients, then a refrigerator with more number of shelves is recommended.
If you like to store more beverages, drinks, etc. then you need more space for the carton. And if you want to keep frozen things that run throughout the year, then you need a large freezer.

NUMBER OF DOORS
As time changes, the comfort in every field changes, earlier people was having only a single-door fridge, then the double door, and there is a lot more advancement in this field. Let us discuss in detail:
Single Door:
This type of refrigerator is best suitable for you if you are single or have a nuclear family.
These refrigerators are not frost-free which means, the freezer part is inbuilt inside the fridge and you have to defrost it manually by pressing the Defrost button from time to time to get rid of excess ice.
It has ample storage inside it. Mostly, there are 3 shelves. Also, in some varieties, you can find a vegetable storage drawer at the bottom. Usually, the size of this type of fridge varies from 50 liters to 270 liters.
As these fridges are the most basic ones, so they are the lowest in price as compared to other ones.
Double Door:
Double door refrigerators have separate compartments for both freezer and the food storage area. Usually, these types of fridges are auto-frost or, we can say frost-free which means the ice will not build up on the sides of the freezer. It makes these fridges more recommendable.
The size of these can vary from 200 liters to 550 liters and, if you have a family of four members or more, then this type of refrigerator will suites you.
If we discuss the freezer part, then these fridges categorize into two parts:
Top Mount Freezer- In this, the freezer is at the top and, the food storage part is at the bottom. People mostly used the food part so, people having back issues will suffer from this. To resolve this problem, another fridge came which is-
Bottom Mount Freezer- This is simply the reverse of the top mount. The freezer is at the bottom as generally, we use the freezer less than the food storage part.
Side-by-Side Doors:
This is a new model in the market. These refrigerators look like a wardrobe that has two doors of the same size.
These are available in large sizes, stars somewhere around 400 liters to 900 liters. If you passionate about food and love to have multiple things, then you can select this. As the size is large, so is the price as compared to the simple double door fridges.
In some varieties, there is different temperature control in both sections so the temperature of one side doesn’t affect the other side.
Multiple Doors/ French Style Doors:
It has 3-doors; 2- side-by-side and 1-at the bottom. The bottom part is the freezer section in most of the cases. Each section has different temperature control. This type of refrigerator is required, for large families. But in most cases, their advanced features attract nuclear families as well. Capacity-wise, it varies from 300 liters to 900 liters and, prices are high as compared to other refrigerators.
ENERGY CONSUMPTION
There is a label of energy consumption pasted on the door of the refrigerator on which the number of units was mentioned, that it would consume in one year. The Energy Efficiency Rating (EER) tells you how much energy the fridge will consume, the same thing was mentioned, in the form of stars.
Basically, the higher the EER less energy consumption. So, if the star rating is 3, that means the fridge will consume less energy as compared to the refrigerator that is having 2-stars.
Also, energy consumption depends on two things:
- The number of times you open the fridge- if you open your refrigerator frequently, then it requires more energy to maintain the temperature that is lost while opening the fridge too frequently.
- How much do you occupy your fridge? Ideally, a refrigerator must have a 20-30% space. If you leave less area than this one, then your refrigerator will consume more energy.
Additional Features:
Apart from these things, there are some advanced features as well. Like what kind of freezer you want, inside the fridge or outside. Do you need a digital display or a touch panel to set the temperature for various things?
Whatever features you want, that may slightly change the price.
If you want to exchange your old refrigerator for a new one, then think about the cons of the existing fridge and then prepare a list of those features which you want in your new fridge. This trick will make your search easier
