The name “CHOPPERS” indicates its meaning, something which is used to chop or we can say that to cut something in its finest form. Choppers are nowadays in big trend as it makes most of the kitchen easy. The best thing about using vegetable chopper is it saves our time and energy. 

In this section, let us detail about a few different kinds of vegetable choppers, their working methods, and how much they are efficient to use?

 

  1. HANDY MINI CHOPPER- means the chopper which is small in size and can be operated with hands only (no use of electricity).
Body: It is of circular shape with a detachable head. The head is an inbuilt elastic feature for chopping things. This kind of chopper came with 2 different types of blades- one is made up of iron having sharp edges and the other is of plastic. This is very much in fashion because of its simple working process. The body made up of good plastic (BPA-Free) and varies in color from company to company. Some commonly seen colors are teal and white- green.Working: The two blades serve different purposes- one (sharp edges) is used to chop solid things and others can be used to beat eggs.  Discussing the working process step by step-
  • Place the blade carefully first.
  • Put the things which you want to chop.
  • Adjust the cover as per the design of the blade.
  • Pull the elastic rope placed on the top of the cover for 10 seconds.
  • After chopping, remove the cover first followed by the blade.
  •  Then transfer the chopped things.
Uses: This chopper can be helpful in many ways like-
  • to finely chop vegetables like onion, garlic, ginger, tomatoes, etc.

Cons: Disadvantage includes-
  • not suitable for large quantities.
  • blades are very sharp.  Need to be very careful while using.
  • requires attention while adjusting the cover to the blade.
  1. ELECTRIC CHOPPERwith the help of electricity gives the finest chopping to vegetables and fruits. 

Body: The body is divided into 2 parts- one is the head with which the wire is connected and the other one is a transparent bowl to chop things. Like mini chopper this chopper also comes with 2 different types of blades- one is of iron which includes 3 blades shaft at different position and the other one is whisk plastic blade. This is available in the market with different company names and most of them providing BPA- Free Plastic body.

 

Working: Both the blades serve different purposes like- iron blades used to chop things into the finest form whereas plastic one is used to beating eggs and make a semi-fine puree. Step by step process is given below for a better understanding of the working-

  • Place the blade carefully first.
  • Put the things which you want to chop.
  • Place the plate which prevents the things to splash out.
  • Adjust the cover as per the design of the blade.
  • Insert the plug into plug-ins and switch it on.
  • Press the part which is slightly upwards on the top of the cover for 10 seconds.
  • After chopping, remove the cover first followed by the blade.

  • requires attention while adjusting the cover to the blade.
  • cannot carry while traveling.
  • needs proper cleaning of each part otherwise the things get stuck inside which leaves a bad smell.
 
  1. BIG BOX CHOPPER-resolves the problem of using different types of knives, peelers, and chopping boards.

Body: This chopper comes in the shape of a rectangular box down to which there is a transparent rectangular box kind of bowl for the output and top is like a flip- flop into which blade of different kinds can be adjusted easily as per the requirement. The whole body is made with high-quality food-grade materials which are BPA- Free. There are 12 different types of blades in this which help to chop things in no time. The blades are made up of good quality stainless steel for smooth functioning. It comes in a different color as decided by the company but more often the light green color is very popular. For grating:

  • Place the blade carefully first (as per the necessity)
  • Put the things which you want to grate on the top of the blade.
  • Remove the top cover (makes grating easy)
  •  Grate it gently
  • After grating, remove the blade first.
  •  Then transfer the chopped things.

For slicing/ dicing:

  • Place the blade carefully above the rectangular bowl.
  • Put the things which you want to slice/ grate.
  • Cover it with the cover.
  • Press the cover slightly and it’s done.
  • Remove the blade.
  •  Then transfer the chopped things.
 

Pros: Advantages of using this big box chopper are-

  • all things are done at the same place just need to change the blade.
  • No electricity is needed to chop things.
  • leaves no waste behind
  • chop things in less than 10  seconds.
  • best for finely chopping things
  • transparent bowl to view the exact status of chopping.
 

Cons: Besides having lots of advantages it comes with some disadvantages as well-

  • requires attention while adjusting the cover to the blade.
  • cannot carry while traveling.
  • needs proper cleaning of each blade otherwise, the things get stuck inside which leaves a bad smell.
  • sometimes it’s quite confusing and a little bit time-consuming to select the blade.
  • also, each blade needs to be kept carefully.
  • blades must be stored after proper wash and drying.
