Fruit Raita

Fruit Raita

Fruit Raita: a simple, quick, and healthy dish with just a  combination of yogurt and fruits of your choice.

We Indians usually use Raitas as an accompaniment with almost every dish like biryani, dal, pulao, or with proper lunch or dinner recipes. They are easy to make and heights up the level of food. Raitas can be made with different things and everyone has their own of making them.

Fruit Raita is considered to be one of the healthiest versions served in your meal. This recipe is one of the favorites among kids as it contains a number of fruits in the same place. In simple words, we can say, in just one bowl we can get the goodness of fruits and curd (which is a good source of calcium).

Tempting Raitas enhances its flavor, especially with asafoetida and cumin powder and sometimes with charcoal but here we will not follow this process as tempting fruit raita will degrade the sweetness of fruits. I am giving sweet and salty flavor here in raita but you can only make sweet one also.

You can also prepare this raita during FAST, just add those spices which you can take during fast. On normal days, you can have this raita as per the procedure.

For Fruit Raita, I am using pomegranate seeds (which gives a good texture to raita), pear, mango, pineapple and black plum as all these are seasonal when I was preparing this but you can add fruits of your choice like apple, bananas, etc.

Too simple to make, yet I want to make a few tips: Firstly, avoid using overripe fruits as they will degrade the taste. Secondly, if using apples and bananas, then chop them at the same time otherwise they turn out black. Lastly, use fresh curd otherwise you have to use a lot of sugar and this dish becomes much sweeter.

Step by step instructions

  • Take a bowl, add 100 ml curd into it. Make sure curd must be in beaten form, otherwise whisk it.
  • Add 1/2 cup pineapple puree into it.
  • Add 2 tbsp powdered sugar into it and mix well.
  • Now, add fruits of your choice. I added mangoes, pears, black plum, and pomegranate kernels to it.
  • Add 1 tsp black salt.
  • Add 1 tsp roasted cumin powder to it.
  • Mix all the things nicely.
  • Quick and healthy Fruit Raita is ready to serve.
