Chana Dal Peda is a quick sweet recipe and believe me this one is so drooling that only one is not enough.
The best thing about this is it prepared with just 3 basic ingredients. Each ingredient serves its purpose like Chana Dal is key ingredients used here for flavor. Sugar used for sweetness which you can adjust as per your taste.
Last but not least, Ghee/ Unclarified butter is used to give a nice aroma as well as binding. Traditionally, at an early age, all the sweets used are prepared in ghee because of its number of health benefits as well as for the aroma.
Chana Dal Peda is an instant that you can prepare in just 10 minutes. You can make it even when the guests come suddenly especially during this pandemic situation when the trust in outside open food is no more.
Though preparing this sweet is quite easy, I would like to give some suggestions for the perfect result: Firstly, roast on low flame, and once your nose got the aroma of roasting, immediately transfer it into a bowl otherwise over roasting will degrade the color as well as the flavor.
Secondly, ghee neither is in the frozen state nor in the melting state. It should be in a semi-solid state then only you can have the foamy texture while mixing it with powdered sugar. Thirdly, simply grind the sugar in the mixer jar.
Last but not least, if you find the mixture is loose to shape peda then keep it in the refrigerator for some time and then shape again. Also, if you find the mixture dry then add some ghee to it and then shape. Remember all the points and enjoy the yummy sweet.
Step by step instructions
- Take a pan and add chana dal to it.
- Switch on the flame and roast it for 2 mins on low flame. After roasting, cool it slightly and grind it to make powder.
- In a bowl, add ghee.
- Followed by powdered sugar.
- Mix both the things really well and form a foamy texture.
- Add powdered chana dal to it.
- Followed by almonds and cardamom powder.
- Mix all the things and make a dough. If find it difficult to bind dough, add 1 tsp ghee and then again.
- Take a spoon and take out some portion from the dough. Cut all the peda with the help of a spoon. In this way, we can have an equal size of peda.
- Shape peda.
- Garnish with almonds. This is totally optional, you can also garnish with some pistachios or can serve it without garnishing
- Chana Dal Peda is ready.
